Ed spoke with the surgeon a little more yesterday (by phone). He has done in his career (and he's pretty young, maybe mid- to late-30's) about 500 liver surgeries, half of them resections. The general complication rate is about 40%, but his is about 33%. Lower than averge mortality rate (3/500).
The surgery will not be laparoscopic as they have to reach both front and back of the liver by turning it, as I understand it.
The colonoscopy is this Thursday afternoon. We're both attending to administrative matters, including getting a new roof on the orchard house. Like those things, plus a bit of car repair, and I'd guess some psychological adjustment..
