Friday Midmorning

Got over around 9..a great night's sleep for me, to find all apparently unchanged with Ed through the night. He didn't sleep much, but still in no pain. He's practcing his 'medium' (as opposed to shallow) breathing. Had a chest x-ray this a.m., but i wasn't here then and there has been noone to ask about results. All the docs were around before I got here. The chest x-ray is to assess the lung inflation prior to removing the chest tube. They haven't removed it in any case.

The nurses who come by all note that he is 'doing good.'. ('doing well' is apparently now lost to the language..soon to be routinely identified as an archaism.). This is a very quiet ICU today. I think we have moved past any sense of urgency. It is hard for him to find a comfortable position to sleep what with all the lines trailing around, so the quietness at least makes it easier for him to doze off for short periods.
