The term "hiccup" derives from the sound of the event. "Hiccough" erroneously implies an association with respiratory reflexes. The medical term, singultus, is thought to have originated from the Latin, singult, which translates roughly as "the act of catching one's breath while sobbing."
Last night's sleep was pretty easy for him to get to, and today brought Ed not a single singultus. And that is a plus day.
Mid-afternoon, Ed and a friend took a walk down to the beach to observe the tsunami wave, such as it was. And with this tsunami lashing Point Roberts, I think I'll probably quiet this blog posting as long as things are moving upward. Best not to hear from me, I'd say. But if you want to know something, just write me an email.
