End of 2012

Not much in the way of news (all to the good, I guess).  Ed's CEA continues to go drift down.  It was 4.9 18 Dec. and 4.5 27 Dec.  Because of all the holiday closures, he's been on a little less than every 2 weeks infusion schedulem, so these two readings are closer together than usual.  We are successfully through Christmas with a lovely visit from Ed's daughter Annika and her two sons (now 21).  The weather is getting colder, which is likely in December.  It snowed this morning, but the temperature was about 36 degrees so it didn't stick at all.  Some winters it never does.

We've both been deeply engaged in fundraising for the local library and as we end the first year (although only about 6 months of it have involved actual fundraising), we have gathered in almost $90,000 and have $35,000 pledged for next year.  If your charity budget still has some openings, keep us in mind.  Point Roberts has a 1,000 square foot library that was built in 1936, making it a year older than me.  I have had regular renovations; it has not.  The new building (next door) will have 2,500 sq. feet and will be able to have more than 4 people at a time in the room if they're using a computer.  And much more for kids, and beautiful lighting and windows and all those things that libraries now have.  It's a cute little Dickensian library, but it's hard to do much of what you need to do other than just check books in and out.  And libraries are a lot more than that now.  But, I go on, as I tend to when I start thinking about it.

Thanks for all your communications and good wishes and visits throughout the past year.  We are always happy to hear from those of you so far away, and even more so to see you in our living room.  And it is a comfort to know that you are reading how we are doing.  Our best wishes to you for a wonderful next year.
