Innovation

Today's innovation was that Ed went down to Bellingham for the infusion by himself.  No me hovering, serving his lunch, whatever other thing that he could as easily do for himself.  Since he no longer is having the highly toxic infusion but only the mildly toxic infusion, it seemed very unlikely that he would need help in any way.  Big decision (on my part).  I don't exactly know why.

But, the bigger news is that the white blood cell counts were in the normal range without Ed's having a neupogen shot and the CEA levels went down again.  This time to 3.4 (last time, CEA was 5.4).  In normal, non-smokers, CEA levels are from 0-3.

Three weeks from now, another infusion with Avastin and the 5FU, and another CAT scan to see what is going on.  After that, the plan is to drop the 5FU and use only Avastin.  From all external indications, Ed continues to do well, to feel well, to have a lot of energy and to be getting lots done.  This past week, he was digging a foundation for the room he is about to rebuilt on the Orchard House.  It's been very hot here, though, so it was also a week in which we were all laying low to a considerable extent.  If we were any fun, we'd have been running through the hose.

Also, he continues to gain weight..close to 165 now.
