Today was the first day of the new chemo regimen. With just the 5FU, it is fast: barely an hour. Interestingly, they eliminated the nausea meds in the infusion (since Ed had never had any feelings of nausea), and the also eliminated the Leucovorin and the Calcium infusions, which are usually given together with the 5FU. The two are said (by them to us) to make the 5FU more effective. But, it turns out, Leucovorin is not much available (another chemo agent in short supply because no one wants to manufacture it because for some reason they can't make enough money on it, or something), and I guess that if you don't give the Leucovorin, there's no reason to give the Calcium.
So it's very light chemo indeed. An hour hanging around waiting for the pharmacy delivery of the drug, and we were gone with two further days of infusion by pump. No side effects after 10 hours, anyway.
Bellingham was full of trees just starting to put out beautiful pink blossoms.
