Here we are at the end of January with the first blood tests in 14 weeks. Everything is pretty much what it was last time, although the CEA has risen some. It was 2.3 in late October; it is 4.7 now. (Normal 0-3.0) Obviously not the direction that we were hoping for, suggesting some CEA-producing activity. However, we do not know what is the margin of error on these readings. Ed's oncologist offered a CT scan (not scheduled for another 3 months) but Ed decided to wait the three months. He did not propose shortening the CEA testing intervals (3 months).
Ed remains asymptomatic and, with the re-roofing of both houses between Christmas and now, amply demonstrates that he has vastly more energy than I do and is able to sustain it for 8-hour days of physical work in cold weather. Check against your own skills/performance.
At the end of November, Ed celebrated his 76th birthday; at the end of January, my 75th came by. We are definitely getting older in any case. Looking forward to spring, every day, and yesterday made that seem possible. Also, the re-roofing (which included placing 3 inches of insulation beneath the roofs where previously there was no such insulation) has improved our warmth.
