Slow Rise Continues

Ed's CEA numbers came in this past week slightly higher, again.  From 4.7 three weeks ago to 5.3 this week.  Still, only little increments but it's not clear to us whether the steady, if slow rise, means that he should try a little chemotherapy return, or  that the risk of chemo isn't worth it and he should wait until it's much higher (and thus much more advanced).  One of our doc friends suggests that the current tx practice seems to be 'nickel and dime-ing' colon cancer for as long as you can.  So that will be the subject of conversation with the oncologist next visit (two weeks from now).  It's nicer not to have the chemo rigors added to the rigors of winter, but I assume we must be on our way out of the latter by now, although the weather doesn't particularly reflect that judgment.

Ed's daughter Mia and her son Jack were here last weekend for a good visit with us, llama and goats, and downtown Vancouver.  This time we didn't make Mia work every minute of the day, although we did all spend one major portion of a day doing a big yard burn.  Fresh start for the spring, should it come.  Then, an old high-school friend and his wife made an overnight visit and we didn't make them work, either.  So you all may be safe in coming to visit us this summer, if you choose to do so, without the fear of excess labor.  Although, by then, some new project may be afoot, I suppose.
